About Joseph Hoots

With locations in Astoria and Williamsburg, NYC, I deliver premium acupuncture and bodywork services throughout New York City. I hold a Master's degree in Traditional Chinese Medicine and Chinese Herbology from Pacific College of Health and Science.
I use electro-acupuncture as a neurostimulator to deliver electrical impulses to the brain, spine, peripheral nervous system, and connective tissues to:

Throughout the appointment, Joe made sure I was comfortable. While the experience was new to me, I still felt welcomed. Prior to the acupuncture I was experiencing headaches and after the session they had completely stopped. I had a wonderful experience and will continue with sessions.

Joe Hoots is a magical life saver! Between the manual bodywork massage on my back, the cupping, and electro Accupuncture, he makes my back feel brand new. He takes his time, never rushes, and you never have to wait. He’s always ready to go and remembers your pain points every time he sees you. I can’t recommend him enough!

Joe is one of the best acupuncturists in NY, and I have been to several. He has treated me for back, knee, shoulder and ear issues and has resolved many of them. I travel over an hour for his treatments. As you can suspect I highly recommend him, he is professional, knowledgeable and quite a nice guy.

Came in with a serious neck issue - I must have slept on it wrong and could barely turn my head! A single session really helped and within a couple visits I was pretty much back to normal. He really knows what he's doing and tunes into your pain.

I have come to Joe twice now for pain management in my left foot - first, when I had a fracture and again when I strained a tendon. Joe listens to what I'm looking for and does a great combo of both acupuncture and physical massage to alleviate pain. Acupuncture has been more effective than anti-inflammatory meds for my pain. What I love is Joe also gives me recommendations on what to do at home to help continue pain management throughout the week. His Williamsburg location is super accessible and in a beautiful building. Joe has been a great help to my tight traps and neck issues and occasionally tight hips. I have gone to him for acupuncture with electric stim which he usually provides a heat lamp for. He usually finishes off the session with manual therapy or cupping whatever my preference is for that day. I’ve also gone to him for a bodywork only session it was excellent and helped with my ongoing pain. He is very precise and always asks how you are doing throughout the session. Highly recommend.

Joe is amazing. He patiently listens to your concerns and issues to figure out a treatment plan. He discusses it with you, so you know what’s happening. He always checks in to make sure you’re not feeling any pain and makes sure that he is targeting the correct areas. He also checks in to see how the sessions are doing, whether there is improvement and where and how. He’s responsive and truly makes an effort to accommodate his patients’ schedules, when possible. I went to him with pelvic floor issues that I had been dealing with for 2 years (it was torture) and he helped me so much! Truly a miracle worker! Besides being a great specialist, he is genuinely a lovely person who cares and that is quite rare.

Getting treatment with Joe was the best thing I've done for myself in a long time. I started the treatment with different pains all over my body (neck, jaws, knees, arm...) and after some weeks of regularly visiting Joe I was pain free. Also, because of the nature of my job I suffer with sudden acute neck pain. After the treatment the pain is always gone.
My mom also had the opportunity of getting treatment and her pain in the shoulder disappeared.

I have gone to many acupuncture services in NYC, both private and community-based. Joe is by far the most thorough, thoughtful, and passionate. Most acupuncturists I've visited do not even give 10% of the thoroughness Joe does. He also *customizes* your experience. Every time I go, we try something new and different. It makes the experience that much more holistic. I have been seeing Joe for a few months now and I cannot even imagine a world where I stop seeing him. I had scoliosis surgery as a teen and sometimes experience lower back pain as a result - after every session, I feel like my body is brand new. I have done cupping, electric acupuncture and deep tissue manual work with Joe -- all of them have been amazing experiences.

I started seeing Joe for shoulder pain just a few weeks ago and he has already helped me so much! In addition to being a great acupuncturist, he’s also super accommodating and kind. I’m a full time athlete and I use my body pretty much all day every day, in training and performance. I started having problems with one of my shoulders a few months ago but I was hesitant to get help because I was afraid that getting work done on my shoulder would mean that I had to stop using it. A friend of mine recommended Joe because he specializes in pain relief and sports medicine. I have been seeing Joe twice a week and I have experienced a noticeable improvement in my shoulder, both in terms of pain and function. I have also continued to train and perform as usual without any issues! Highly recommend!
