About Dr. Josephine Nguyen
Dr. Josephine Nguyen is a board-certified dermatologist with over 14 years of patient care experience. As a Captain and a physician in the United States Navy, she has served as the U.S. Navy Surgeon General’s senior dermatology consultant and a flight surgeon in the Indo-Pacific Theater. She was forward-deployed on the USS Kitty Hawk supporting the aviation squadrons. Selected to be a White House Fellow during 2020-2021, she had the honor of serving as a special assistant to the Secretary of Health & Human Services. Along with Dr. Nguyen’s role as a dermatologist with Advanced Dermatology and Cosmetic Surgery, she also serves as the Chief Medical Officer for the Defense Health Network National Capital Region Market.
Dr. Nguyen graduated second in order of merit from the U.S. Naval Academy, completed an M.D. from Stanford University, earned her master’s degree in healthcare delivery from Dartmouth University, and completed her residency at the University of Pennsylvania. She has produced more than 20 publications. She is a former Robert Wood Johnson Health Policy Fellow and physician advisor to the Chairman House Ways & Means Committee, Congressman Kevin Brady (R-TX-8). Dr. Nguyen earned a medal for Defense Meritorious Service and a medal for Meritorious Service with One Oak Cluster. She was also awarded the DoD’s 2018 Female Senior Physician Leadership Award.
Dr. Nguyen is a first-generation Vietnamese American who is fluent in Vietnamese and is excited to now serve and provide high-quality, patient-centered care that is tailored to each person.
