“My only frustration was that every time I tried to log into the Patient Portal to retrieve documents to pre-fill out, I got an error page stating that there was a site impersonating the actual one and advising me to close the page. I brought this to their attention, but as everything flows through the portal, it is difficult to navigate. Otherwise, top-notch service.”

About Dr. Joshua Alpert

Dr. Alpert is a board-certified, fellowship-trained orthopedic surgeon who completed his sports medicine fellowship at Harvard/Massachusetts General Hospital. He currently cares for student athletes at Judson University, Larkin, Elgin, and Dundee Crown High Schools, as well as the Chicago Inferno Soccer Club. Castle Connolly named Dr. Alpert Top Doctor for five years running, and Top Orthopedic Doctor last year. Dr. Alpert’s primary focus is on getting his patients back to their activities quickly, whether using non-invasive treatments such as platelet-rich plasma (PRP) and stem cell therapies or minimally invasive surgical techniques. When conservative care has been unsuccessful, Dr. Alpert performs knee arthroscopy (in the case of meniscus or ACL tears) and shoulder arthroscopy (for rotator cuff or labral tears), as well as shoulder replacements for arthritis. In addition to treating sports injuries, Dr. Alpert commonly sees patients with work-related injuries and performs independent medical examinations and impairment ratings. A lifelong athlete, he understands his patients’ desire to return to work, school, life, and sports not only healed but better than before their injury.

I find it hard to believe that an orthopedic practice doesn’t have on staff a Pain Management specialist. I am not looking to go to more than one source for these meds ever. Since moving off the VA for my orthopedic needs, they will no longer provide my Tylenol 3 for my daily needs. I have been taking pain meds darnvonex since 1985, then Hydrocodone, in Iraq Percocet, then 2013 after the Oxy epidemic Tylenol 3. I never ran out before the end of the script period. I never took more than needed for pain. So, now I will seek an orthopedic practice who will treat me holistically, not sliced and diced. A practice who wants to treat a combat veteran with cervical, thoracic, and lumbar fracture, resulting in two laminectomy’s. Each resulting in spikes wherever there is a screw, that have periods of severe pain flair up's that require strong pain meds until the flair up subsides. Else take Tylenol 3 to sleep and one as needed depending on my activity.
