I have experience working with different socioeconomic realities, LGBTQIA, and non-traditional relationship structures, from a variety of ethnic and spiritual backgrounds. My approach My approach utilizes CBT, DBT, Motivational Interviewing, and Psychodynamic techniques. From the outset, I want to get to know who I am working with, their goals, and the context that leads to them seeking help. I want to know what's worked, what hasn't worked, and their priorities and things to avoid in treatment. My communication style I enjoy getting to know my patients as individuals and celebrating the accomplishments each one makes in their path to a rewarding life. I try to contextualize a patient's goals in their life--what does feeling better look like for them? What concrete changes would they like to see and when? My goals for you I try to contextualize your goals in your life. What does feeling better look like for you? What concrete changes would you like to see and when? Our first session When I am first getting to know someone, I want them to do most of the talking, telling me about the issue that brings them to me seeking care. I want to hear all the background, insofar as someone is willing and able to disclose that.
