Julie Calvery-Carman, APRN, RN, NP

Adult Psychiatric & Mental Health Nurse Practitioner
AR
I am a Nurse Practitioner based out of Northwest Arkansas and working with clients statewide via Telehealth. I work with adolescents and adults and utilize a wide variety of approaches to the management of anxiety, depression, trauma, and other conditions. I like working with patients to include strategies that align with their values and priorities. This can sometimes look like adding lifestyle recommendations or nutritional recommendations in addition to medication - the goal is to help the patient with practical, realistic options that are beneficial to them as individuals. I typically work with clients looking for assistance with depression, anxiety, or working through a history of trauma. I have found that going beyond "just medication" and talking about other factors and strategies can often be very helpful in accelerating the success of treatment. My communication style is warm and personable. I want you to feel comfortable sharing not only your symptoms, but also how you feel about treatment options. It is important to have time to ask questions during each visit and have a clear understanding of the plan. I started my healthcare journey as a nurse because I wanted to make a difference in the lives of others. Working as a mental healthcare provider was a natural next step in that journey, and I enjoy helping patients overcome challenges to become the best version of themselves. My approach to setting goals is focused on working alongside the patient to determine what is most important to them and how they envision their best self. We will continue to revisit these goals at each session and use them as a roadmap for success. During the first session, you can expect me to ask questions like: What are your biggest concerns with your mental health? What treatments have you tried in the past, and were they effective? I will also ask you to share how you have been feeling, and I may ask additional questions to better understand how to assist.
