Julie Stupke, NP

Julie Stupke, NP

Adult Psychiatric & Mental Health Nurse Practitioner
NC
My name is Julie Stupke and I am a board certified PMHNP. My approach to mental health care is holistic and I utilize prescription medications and supplements to help alleviate symptoms and facilitate healing for patients. I am also familiar with genetic testing and how to utilize this to help patients have the best outcomes possible. I believe that medications are only one of the tools that can help improve mental health. My approach to mental healthcare is holistic and collaborative. Typically, I work to educate patients about their options for symptom relief and we decide together how best to proceed. I believe in providing individualized care as much as possible. The patients I typically work with have diagnoses of depression, bipolar disorder, anxiety, PTSD, ADHD, insomnia, dissociative disorders, and OCD. I strive to educate patients about how the medication works and the expected effects on their mental and physical health. My style is collaborative, and I believe in patients participating in decision-making about their own care. I was a bedside nurse for over 20 years, 10 of which were in critical care. I began to see through my experience there that physical and mental health are intertwined, and realized that mental health can play a significant role in overall quality of life and health. I want patients to be able to live their best life possible. I approach goal setting with patients by encouraging them to take a long-range view. How does the patient want to be feeling in one year? 10 years? We discuss how to use medication and supplements as well as other forms of treatment to help them reach the quality of life they want.
