About Dr. Junsub Shin
Dr. James Shin understands firsthand what it means to live with spine and disc issues. After sustaining an on-the-job injury early in his career, he experienced chronic pain that affected his energy, mood, and daily life—an experience that strengthened his empathy and shaped his approach to care.
An athlete at heart, Dr. Shin played tennis throughout high school and college, learning the importance of prevention, intelligent training, and spinal health. These lessons guide his clinical philosophy: educate early, treat conservatively, and help patients build strong, resilient spines through evidence-based care.
Dr. Shin specializes in spinal decompression and discogenic conditions. His treatment approach integrates Cox flexion-distraction principles, non-surgical decompression, targeted mobility work, and progressive strengthening. He focuses on protecting the spine, restoring confident movement, and empowering patients to return to the activities they love.
Dr. Shin earned his Doctor of Chiropractic degree from Texas Chiropractic College and his Bachelor of Science in Human Biology from the University of California, San Diego. He has additional training in dry needling and Cox-informed decompression therapy and emphasizes prevention and self-management in every plan of care.
Fluent in English and Korean, Dr. Shin is known for his clear communication and compassionate approach. Outside the clinic, he enjoys tennis, pickleball, and golf, and is currently training for the Houston Marathon.

Dr. Shin was very helpful and knowledgeable for the issue I came into the clinic for . We were able to talk about my personal treatment plan and things I can do to improve my condition. The front desk staff and rehab team were also very friendly and helpful.
