About Dr. Kamalesh Kumar Sankhala

*Please note: Due to the nature of our specialty, it is essential that we have all new patients' medical history forms or at least a brief summary of their diagnosis and current treatment prior to confirming their appointment.* NextGen Oncology provides cancer patients access to next-generation and cutting-edge cancer treatments. Dr. Sankhala, a medical oncologist trained at Dr. S.N. Medical College (Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery), has additional fellowship training in Oncology and Advanced Oncology Drug Development at the University of Texas, San Antonio. This training enables him to understand cancer at the molecular and genetic levels and to design personalized, precision treatments. With his advanced fellowships in Oncology and Advanced Drug Development, Dr. Sankhala is well equipped to care for cancer patients not only with conventional treatments but also with next-generation molecularly targeted therapies and immunotherapies. These molecularly or genetically targeted therapies are specific to the individual patient’s tumor biology. The current approach of generalizing treatment for specific tumor types without considering individual genomics and pharmacology is not a truly scientific approach. Dr. Sankhala treats not only newly diagnosed cancer patients but also those whose cancer has progressed despite conventional treatments. Leveraging his expertise in clinical research, he identifies innovative treatment options combining conventional and new drugs that may not yet be commercially available. He is frequently consulted for second opinions to assist in managing complex oncology cases nationally and internationally. Dr. Sankhala has authored numerous research papers published in reputable journals and has been a speaker at several oncology societies.
