Getting to know Kamasha Richardson

My practice philosophy is centered on providing compassionate, patient-centered mental health care that empowers individuals to achieve emotional wellness and improve their quality of life. As a PMHNP, I believe in treating the whole person through evidence-based care, active listening, collaboration, and respect for each patient’s unique experiences and goals. I am committed to creating a safe, supportive environment where patients feel heard, valued, and encouraged throughout their mental health journey.

What should a new client know about working with you?

My approach to psychiatric care is warm, collaborative, and judgment-free. I believe the best treatment happens when clients feel heard, comfortable, and actively involved in their care plan. I specialize in treating ADHD, anxiety, depression, OCD, mood disorders, trauma-related concerns, and women’s mental health through a supportive and evidence-based approach. Appointments are conversational and focused on understanding the full picture — not just symptoms, but also lifestyle, stressors, sleep, relationships, and overall functioning. I combine medication management with supportive psychotherapy, psychoeducation, and practical coping strategies during visits when appropriate. My goal is to help clients feel empowered, improve daily functioning, and create sustainable progress rather than just “getting through the day." I understand starting psychiatric treatment can feel intimidating, especially for first-time clients. I strive to create a calming, validating environment where you can openly discuss concerns without fear of judgment. Together, we’ll build a treatment plan tailored to your goals, preferences, and comfort level.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

During the initial appointment, we’ll spend time discussing your current concerns, symptoms, mental health history, medical history, lifestyle factors, and treatment goals. I take a comprehensive approach to understanding the “why” behind symptoms rather than rushing directly to medication decisions. This evaluation may include discussing sleep, stress, relationships, work or school functioning, trauma history, attention and focus concerns, and prior treatment experiences. At the end of the evaluation, we’ll review diagnostic impressions together and create a personalized treatment plan. This may include medication management, supportive psychotherapy, psychoeducation, behavioral strategies, lifestyle recommendations, referrals for therapy, or additional testing if needed. Follow-up appointments are focused on monitoring progress, discussing side effects or symptom changes, adjusting medications when appropriate, and developing practical coping tools to support daily functioning. I often incorporate supportive therapy techniques into medication management visits, including emotional support, problem-solving strategies, ADHD coping skills, anxiety management techniques, and psychoeducation. My style is collaborative, compassionate, and goal-oriented. I want clients to feel comfortable asking questions and actively participating in treatment decisions so we can create a plan that feels realistic, effective, and sustainable.

More information on payments and coverage

I currently accept select insurance plans. Insurance coverage and benefits vary by plan, so I encourage clients to verify mental health benefits, deductible information, and copay responsibilities directly with their insurance provider prior to appointments. Payment is collected securely at the time of service through the platform. Please note that insurance companies may process claims differently depending on deductible status or specific plan requirements, which can occasionally result in additional patient responsibility after a claim is processed. If medications require prior authorizations or insurance approvals, my office will make reasonable efforts to assist with the process; however, approval decisions are ultimately determined by the insurance company.
