“New patient visit to establish primary care, most of my new patient pre-check paperwork was completed ahead of the visit online thru zocdoc, so upon physical check in at the front desk, I really just had to verify and submit my signatures for the office payment policy. From check in to check out, I was greeted promptly, everyone was very friendly and polite. I felt as though Karen Genter FNP was a wonderful listener and very thorough in obtaining my medical history, she was also very clear at communicating every step of the process along the way. I'm beyond grateful to have discovered this practice thru zocdoc to start working my way through my checklist of obtaining all my healthcare providers and get everything on track”

Karen received her Associates degree in nursing from Oakland Community College in 2006. She obtained her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of Phoenix in 2009 while working in the Emergency room at St. John Ascension and received her Master of Science in Nursing from the University of Phoenix in 2011. Following this, she spent the next 12 years working in home care and received her Wound Ostomy Continence Nurse (WOCN) certification. After several years she decided to return to school and complete her Post-Master's certificate in 2022 as a Family Nurse Practitioner with a focus in Primary Care.
In her free time, Karen likes spending time with friends and family. She is an avid quilter and a grandma to two grandchildren. She has one fur baby named Ellie Mae. Karen enjoys caring for American Veteran's since her husband Martin is a Veteran with 27 combined years with the Army and the Air Force. Her favorite part about working at Avalon Physician Services is caring for patients in their home environments and getting to know their families.

The staff was lovely, very friendly and funny front desk. Understaffed and busy for sure but they were doing a great job with everything they had to juggle. Had to wait a while to be seen because of that but we were not in a rush, the nurse that checked my vitals was also very friendly and welcoming. Karen Genter had the smile and the facade of a friendly doctor, I could tell she was trying to be nice as she dismissed my disability entirely, barely examined me after an hour and a half wait and pretty much said there is nothing she can do for me because she is leaving soon and just transferred me to the next doctor who also happens to be leaving the practice soon. Bad luck on my part for scheduling here right now I guess. Told me to go to physical therapy and MRI downstairs, they had no idea I was coming because they were not informed or given a formal request so I had to wait even longer once I got downstairs. Just felt like I wasted over 2 hours of my day off to be invalidated.

Both the medical assistant and Karen were compassionate, understanding, and genuinely listened. I've been going through a rough time, big life changes with stress manifesting in physical issues. Karen was absolutely wonderful, and I appreciated her time and thoughtfulness more than I can say.

Very nice and friendly staff. Very clean state of the art looking office. The health care provider, NP, Karen Genter, was thorough, knowledgeable, and very helpful with my care plan. 11/10 would recommend (I would vote twice).
