About Karen Hawk
Karen Hawk is a knowledgeable and diligent Family Nurse Practitioner providing primary care in the Lakeview area of Chicago. She earned her Doctor of Nursing Practice, Master’s in Nursing, and Bachelor’s degrees from Columbia University in New York City, and also holds a Bachelor’s degree from DePaul University.
She sees patients for primary health care, illnesses, as well as other common and specialized reasons.
Dr. Hawk is devoted to ensuring the longevity of her patients’ health and developing long-lasting relationships with them.

The 5th floor lab and receptionist were not up to par. Front desk was not trained well. Lab tech that drew my blood took it personal when I asked about the guy that drew my blood before this time. He was very professional.

Dr Hawk & the nurse who saw me before my visit & took my blood after we’re truly excellent! They both are so kind, take their time, and listened to all of my questions and concerns. They made me feel comfortable & heard. I was able to address all questions I wanted to and never felt rushed or judged.

Dr. Hawk is really amazing and excels at making patients feel heard. She isn’t my regular provider, but jumped right into my complex situation without missing a beat. She was the most apologetic about my long wait, which I’m not even mad about because I know it’s just because she is trying to spend the right amount of time with each patient. Dr. Hawk is very caring! Thank you!!

Dr. Hawk questioned the need to continue a medication that was prescribed a very long time ago by another doctor and that may not be currently necessary. I agreed to stop taking the drug and watch for any possible effects that she described. I appreciate her consideration that I may be taking a drug that is no longer, and maybe never was necessary.

Everyone is outstanding except for Dr. Villena. She was rude, dismissive, abrupt, unprofessional, uncompassionate,angry. Told me in first 5 minutes my cholesterol levels and pre- diabetes would only get worse. When I asked why she responded because I am old and only going to get older. When I tried to tell her about my congestion she cut me off demanding I made appointment for stomach so she would only listen to that.

My experience with Dr. Hawk is what health care should be; it was informative, helpful and compassionate.
Five minutes after I walked in, I was seen. It had been years since my last doctor appointment.
There was a lot of ground to cover, Dr. Hawk did not rush the process. She actively listened to me, created a care plan centering my experience and her expertise, and established a clear way I could reach her if I had questions.
I also have to shoutout Heather, who did my blood work. I typically get lightheaded. She was incredibly warm and ensured I was ok to leave the office. I could leave at my own pace and she sent me off with a granola bar, for some sustenance. Her bedside manner also put me at ease.
I highly recommend Dr. Hawk and her team.

Both Dr. Hawk and her nurse, Heather were amazing! Super professional and friendly. As someone who generally avoids going to the doctor, they made me feel at ease and not rushed through any part of the appointment. They both took the time to explain everything they did and provided ample opportunities for me to ask any questions.
