About Dr. Karen Gottlieb

Dr. Gottlieb (formerly Dr. Schirm) grew up in McLean, Virginia. She graduated from Princeton University, magna cum laude, with an A.B. in Molecular Biology and a certificate in Global Health. After graduating from Princeton, she performed clinical trials research on the RSV vaccine at the National Institutes of Health prior to starting medical school. Dr. Gottlieb graduated cum laude from Georgetown University School of Medicine in 2020, and then completed her residency at Medstar Washington Hospital Center-Georgetown University Hospital, where she served as Chief Administrative Resident in her fourth year. Dr. Gottlieb is committed to providing comprehensive, patient-centered care for women throughout all stages of life. She is particularly enthusiastic about preventive care and empowering women with the knowledge to make informed health decisions. Her professional interests include contraception; routine and high risk obstetrics; surgical management of common gynecologic conditions, such as abnormal uterine bleeding; and practicing trauma-informed care. She looks forward to continuing her work in the DMV, the community in which she grew up, building lasting relationships with her patients and contributing to their health and well-being with dedication and heart. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her husband, twin sister, and family, as well as being active on her peloton, at any beach, scuba diving, traveling, reading, and maximizing her time outside.
