Dr. Karen Shiu, D.C., is a NYS and NJ licensed Chiropractor who received her B.S. in Human Biology at the University at Albany. She then continued her education at Northeast College of Health Sciences (NYCC), where she earned her Doctorate in Chiropractic. She gained experience in orthopedic therapy by working closely with Olympic athletes, marathon runners, CrossFitters, MMA fighters, weightlifters, and desk jockeys. Karen is a certified Functional Release and Selective Functional Movement Assessment provider.
Dr. Karen grew up with a strong background in sports. She also earned her second-degree black sash and was trained by the Kung Fu world champion Karl Romain. Later, she was recruited by Albany Crew Varsity. Dr. Karen believes a strong and flexible body is the cornerstone of a healthy life. With a passion for restoring the body through physical medicine, Dr. Karen incorporates evidence-based rehabilitation techniques, dynamic stabilization, and yoga influence for a complete change in one's movement and pain patterns.
In her spare time, Karen enjoys foraging, cycling, and cooking. The art of a strong functional body is only as great as its fuel.

Dr. Shiu is very knowledgeable in her craft. I made an appointment to see her when I had excruciating lower back pain, I left her office feeling great. She also provided exercises to do at home or at the gym. Superb Experience!

Had a chronic headache for several days. Karen was able to see me same-day, and after some muscle work and spinal adjustment, my headache was resolved by the evening.

Dr. Shiu was very attentive and nice, but after arriving at her office in excruciating pain, I realized she wasn’t actually equipped to help me. I was happy to be seen on Memorial Day, but she didn’t have certain equipment I’m accustomed to from chiropractors.
Because medical billing/insurance verification was closed due to the holiday, I paid a lot of money out of pocket. I’m still in excruciating pain, and I’ll have to make an appointment elsewhere for treatment.

Dr. Shiu helped me with a bulging disk and hip pain. She was able to alleviate my pain and teach me exercises that kept me pain free following the appointment. She is a great communicator, explained everything thoroughly, and followed up by emailing me an exercise plan. I highly recommend her!

The absolute best. Came in with low expectations and just wanted a quick back adjustment, but learned so much from Karen in one appointment that I knew I needed to come back. I have been seeing her consistently ever since and I still never fail to learn something new from her after each appointment. I am seeing so much improvement and am feeling so much better. She knows what she is doing and is an expert in her field. Amazing person as well.

My treatment was satisfactory.
The office is within a gym and is difficult to find. Along with this the gym is not following covid safety precautions of wearing masks while Dr Shiu was wearing a mask the whole time.
