The funny thing is that I originally came in with a diagnosis of frozen shoulder and pain at a 10/10. During the very first visit, she told me I also had TOS, which could be contributing significantly to my pain. I later returned to the orthopedist, and imaging confirmed exactly what she had identified, just from her hands-on assessment. I was genuinely impressed.
It did take time to get better, just like she honestly told me from the beginning, but the relief I felt made the process worth it.

“I’ll be honest. I was skeptical about acupuncture. I only came because my physical therapist recommended it for my frozen shoulder. At my first appointment, Dr. Karine tested my range of motion. I couldn’t externally rotate my shoulder at all, and I had less than 90 degrees of abduction. It was painful and very limited.
Then she placed a few needles in my leg and hip and asked me to move my shoulder again. I was thinking, how is this going to help my shoulder? But when I tried to move, my ROM was back. I could externally rotate, and my arm lifted much higher with significantly less pain.
I literally said, WTF?!? I could not believe it. The pain was reduced immediately, mobility improved right in the room during the first session. I walked in skeptical and walked out impressed. I’m still amazed at how quickly my shoulder responded. I am still improving, but now I can say Dr. Karine Martimbianco is impressive and made me believe acupuncture works. I recommend her.”

About Karine Martimbianco
Karine is an acupuncturist and herbalist certified by the NCCAOM (National Certification Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine), licensed in the states of Maryland and Virginia. She received her Master of Science in Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine from the Virginia University of Integrative Medicine (VUIM).
As part of her clinical training, Karine has successfully treated a number of different conditions, such as musculoskeletal disorders, including sports injuries, arthritis, tendinitis, muscle pain and neuropathies; headaches; facial paralysis; trigeminal neuralgia; women's health; stress-related illnesses such as anxiety and depression; digestive problems; and fatigue, among others. Prior to that, she completed a master's program in Naturopathic Medicine at the INNAP (National Institute of Applied Naturopathy) in Brazil. Since then, she has been working with alternative health and making a difference in people's lives. She works with various techniques and has a different approach depending on the patient's needs.
She loves to work with health restoration, providing patients with relief from pain and healthy recovery at the same time. 100% worth the investment, worth spending money out of pocket if insurance doesn’t cover it.
My injury due to working out and getting back in shape, caused me a lot of pain in my shoulder and arms, and I wasn’t able to lift my arm up anymore, and had very bad nerve damage and tingling from my pinky to my shoulder.
When I came in I was sleeping in a chair, because I couldn’t get comfortable in my bed ,I spent hundreds of dollars on chiro visits and massages to help with my injury prior to acupuncture .( I believe in both because I sit and drive a lot) and still get adjusted regularly BUT I had muscles around my elbow and arms that was causing my arms to fall asleep after going to bed, on top of that.
Because of acupuncture, The Dr.was able to work and relieve pressure and help my nerve damage in my arms, now I have full mobility again! Plus helps you by putting you in the most relaxed state of mind after after you leave! Worth the several visits or more !

Dr. Karine is helping me a lot with my sciatica. The pain was reduce in the first visit and progressively getting better after every session. I don't have unbearable pain anymore. Also, Dr. Martimbianco is a good listener and gave me a lot of attention. I had my mood and sleeping improved as well.

Dr Karine is wonderful professional who made me feel a lot better about acupuncture. She has a very soothing personality and always listens to my concerns. She also knows a lot more than just acupuncture so she can recommend many things that help. I like that she has a very individualized approach and everything she does is tailored just for me. She also takes care of my mother who doesn’t speak English. It makes me feel good knowing she has a doctor who speaks her language without the need of a translator

My orthopedist recommended acupuncture for my sciatica. After a good search I found Dr. Karine Martimbianco. I liked her from the beginning. She listened to me patiently, asked a lot of questions and in the end explained to me in detail and in a very simple way how acupuncture works and how it could help my sciatica. I felt great relief after the first treatment. After a few sessions I no longer felt that unbearable pain. It also helped me sleep, my mood and energy increased too. I am very satisfied with the treatments she is providing. I recommend acupuncture to everyone. I especially recommend Dr. Karine. She is very experienced, serious and a kind soul.

Dr. Karine Martimbianco is a God send. I have been suffering from depression for a long time. I was on heavy medication and trying everything that could help, but unfortunately to no avail. After just a few treatments with Dr. Karine, I started to feel much better and regained my energy and self-esteem. She has also helped me with my menopause symptoms. I feel much better. Her treatments are amazing and she is a very sweet, compassionate person. She is a good listener, she has always treated me with respect.
