“I never saw the Cardiologist only the NP and other staff. However, when I left, I saw Dr. Padwa in the lobby sitting with another patient. It would have been nice to get a consult from the doctor but the NP was just as nice. Also pushing through the various testing takes time because there is a lot of chatter at the main hub of assistants.”

About Dr. Karishma Patwa
Dr. Karishma Patwa is a dedicated cardiologist who has always been passionate about science and medicine. She knew that she wanted to help people in the best way she could, and thus pursued a career in medicine. Dr. Patwa decided to focus on cardiology because of its fascinating medical and physiological aspects, as well as its preventative, procedural, and treatment-oriented nature. She is deeply committed to addressing the number one cause of morbidity and mortality in the world, which is incredibly preventable.
Dr. Karishma Patwa has an impressive educational background, including a Fellowship in Cardiovascular Disease from SUNY Downstate Medical Center, an Internal Medicine Residency from NYU Winthrop Hospital, and a Doctorate of Medicine, Cum Laude from the American University of Antigua. She also holds a Master of Science in Physiology from New York Medical College and a Bachelor of Science in General Biology and Women’s Studies from the University of Michigan-Ann Arbor. Her education and training have equipped her with the knowledge and skills necessary to provide excellent care to her patients.
When it comes to treatment, Dr. Patwa firmly believes that prevention is key. However, when necessary, she takes an early and aggressive approach to treatment to prevent further complications. I was told that the doctor couldn’t see me because they couldn’t verify my insurance (it was Saturday but my insurance was submitted upfront).
They called me in the morning to confirm my appointment but never mentioned that. I don’t live in the neighborhood so i travelled for 45 minutes just to be told to go home and offering me another appointments month out.

Dr. Patwa is a great cardiologist who I’d highly recommend to anyone! A year and a half ago, she saved my life by ordering a CT scan of my chest after seeing an abnormality during a stress test. It turned out that I needed a quintuple bypass surgery. I later learned from a nuclear stress test that I’d had a silent heart attack at some point. Yet, my heart is functioning very well right now with the medications I am on - and she is trying to get my LDL even lower to minimize my risk. She answers your questions and helps you to feel at ease, and you can get an appointment with her relatively quickly. Allyson, the physicians assistant that she works with is also great.

A bit of a wait because of insurance stuff (which they called me in advance to sort out but I guess they hadn't by the time I arrived).
Great offices, very nice nurses and practitioner.
I would recommend this cardiologist.

Physician assistant and nurses were very nice and knowledgeable. I was in the office for approximately 2 hours and I saw the doctor for less than 5 minutes. Office didn’t think that my problem was related to the medication I was taking but they were willing to prescribe a different RX to make me happy. I have gone to Dr Ira Schulman and I am very happy there and I’m starting to feel better.

I felt very comfortable at this clinic and was very pleased that Dr. Padwa did check in with me for any last minute concerns. Her PA was wonderful, kind and receptive. The office was well-organized and nurses were professional. They also took time to make sure my insurance was accepted before they ran tests. I felt well cared for here.

They are either totally inept, outright thieves, or both. I was encouraged to get an echocardiogram but was told that it was covered by my insurance – I waited nearly an hour at the office as they confirmed this with my insurance. I then received a bill, which I paid.
A day later, I was told I hadn’t paid and my card would be charged the full amount. When I showed them I’d paid, they confirmed I had, but suddenly there was a new, much larger fee for the echocardiogram that wasn’t there before. When I confronted them, I was told that "covered" doesn't actually mean covered at this office - it's more of a hypothetical. I would never have consented to such an expensive procedure if I hadn’t been told that it was covered.
Given the run-around I’ve gotten from this billing department, every bit of communication has been thrown into great suspicion, and the matter is still unresolved. Check their (much lower) Yelp reviews – apparently they do this all the time.

Horrible experience! Such a waste of time. Doctor arrived late. She was least interested in inquiring about my condition. Suggested remedies without checking my blood report. There are many cardiologists present in Manhattan, please look for someone else, as this doctor was extremely unprofessional.

The doctor and staff were very friendly and willing to work with me for my concerns. I saw the doctor only for a minute but the appt was 2 hours - preliminary screening and leads with an MA, then a PA consult, echocardiogram w/an Ultrasound tech, and a nurse consult. I’d suggest being prepared for the length of the appointment. All in all they had everything and were very prepared.

I had an excellent visit with Dr. Patwa. She seems very knowledgeable and thoughtful. She was able to ease my mind with the symptoms I presented. The front office seemed very disinterested in patients coming in, several looking at their phones instead of helping people. It seems the front office is very young. Not a bad experience, just could of been better with better professionalism from office staff.
