Dr. Katherine Falk practices Integrative and Holistic Psychiatry. She holds licenses in CA, CT, MA, IL, NJ, NY, and PA. In addition to providing psychotherapy, she has developed a method of evaluating the biological underpinnings of mental illness and recommends a personalized approach for each of her patients. Using natural substances—vitamins, minerals, amino acids, herbs, homeopathy—she is able to minimize (and sometimes eliminate) the need for psychiatric medications. She has a longstanding interest in spirituality and, when appropriate, teaches breathing and meditation practices to help her patients better manage their emotions and develop compassion.
Dr. Falk earned her Doctor of Medicine from the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai. She completed her residency in Psychiatry at St. Luke’s Hospital Center. She is board certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology and the American Board of Integrative Holistic Medicine (ABIHM).
Dr. Falk is a sought-after lecturer for medical and psychiatric conferences on topics such as psychiatric illness, integrative psychiatry, and the role of thyroid and adrenal hormones in depression and other psychiatric conditions. She has lectured on Integrative Psychiatry at Mount Sinai Medical Center. Before joining Mount Sinai, she was on the faculty of the New York State Psychiatric Institute/Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons for 25 years. In 1985, she founded The Project for Psychiatric Outreach to the Homeless.

She has little knowledge of medicine. Insists I take a med for as long as it takes to feel any better. She’s referring to months if necessary. My depression is so bad even a week is too long to wait. She thinks my recent increase in pain is due to maybe I had an argument with a friend. I told her it’s the biochemistry in my brain. I Anyone telling me that’s not so will be dropped as a doctor.

I cannot recommend Dr. Falk highly enough. When I say she has changed my life, it is not an understatement. She was kind & flexible enough to see me for a same day appt, & within 1 week I was feeling much better. After a month, I feel like a totally different human being. I am so grateful to her. She is warm, wise, tough & fabulous.

Fantastic. I judge a psychiatrist by how many epiphanies I have per session. I want to move forward with Dr. Falk, I had at least one every session an I was clear about what actions I needed to take in order to change my life.

Dr. Falk has been there for me through very difficult times in my life. She has an uncanny ability to understand complex situations quickly, so that on numerous occasions and crises, she has been able to support me to recognize and make the critical choices I've faced. I don't know where I would be now without her astute, compassionate and professional guidance. Seeing her in an ongoing way is an investment in my happiness. She helps me be more the person I want to be in the world. She helps me clarify what I truly value, recognize my particular gifts, and become more aware of my blind spots. I am continually surprised as I discover new and rich facets of myself, and I am grateful for the work Dr. Falk and I continue to do together.
