Katherine Flaugh, “Katie,” is originally from Cincinnati, Ohio. She graduated from the University of Cincinnati with a Bachelor’s degree in Organizational Leadership and earned her Master’s in Family Nursing from the same university. She pursued medicine as a second career. Her nursing background includes Emergency Medicine, and she currently serves as our Nurse Practitioner, seeing the majority of our same-day sick and urgent care visits while collaborating with all providers for patient care and disease management.
Katie and her husband recently moved to the DC area from Missouri. They are a military family with two young children and their German shepherd.

Provider was 20 minutes late and acted like it was an inconvenience to see me. Asked no questions about my condition and seemed indifferent to my symptoms. I needed a refill on blood pressure meds due to my blood pressure being at a dangerous level and she said she wouldn't be able to fill it because my prescription was 6 months old and I would need lab tests. I have been on this medication for years and never have I had to have any labs. I asked her if she could help me in any way and she said NO and the call was ended.

I can just tell she was rushing the appointment, it was kind of just uncomfortable. I’ve been home and sick alone the past few days so I got my days mixed up and she just seemed impatient. She kept insinuating I was looking for a “magic medicine” since she’s the 2nd dr I’ve been to in 3 days but that’s bc the 1st dr did the same thing: not listen to my concerns and sent me off with something to help with cough although I was feeling many other symptoms. I get that this appt was a video appt (first dr. Visit was in person) , but she could’ve listened to what I had to say or asked questions as to what was going on instead of rushing the appointment and being sarcastic. All in all, I would recommend probably just going in person or find another dr.

She was quick and efficient for it being an appointment I booked earlier that morning. My only issue was the lack of clear communication on the provider and the company's end on wait times. I sat on the video call for 45 minutes before the provider appeared and could not reach anyone about whether I should wait or what the instructions were.

The biggest issue with this virtual appointment is that there is no way to follow up with the provider/Doctor. It was a nightmare to get i contact with someone. There was also about a 25-minute wait for the appt and I was unsure/unclear if the provider was late and/or something was wrong with the app.

Great bedside manner. It was not clear when I booked that this is an urgent care appointment and does not encompass ongoing dermatology care. I was also referred to other local dermatologists, but the info was out of date and one provider had moved several states away.

I booked a 10:30am appointment at 2am! Zocdoc is great and Dr. Flaugh was amazing. She listened to my concerns and validated much of what I had already researched on google. I'm able to finally get a prescription for this issue I've been dealing with for almost 1 month and I'm thankful for the Doc taking time out for my last minute appointment.

Really good experience she didn’t dismiss what I had to say. Especially, given the fact im a black man and hyper sensitive to the concept of racial disparities between health care service compared to the majority race in America. She was really nice.

She seemed to agree with my self-diagnosis but then as she talked it seemed like she didn't think I was doing enough preventatively. Really she was just making assumptions without asking me about my history. We got there in the end but the vibe was weird because we went from validating what I thought I needed to making me feel like I might not need what she was prescribing and might not be on top of my health.

I had a virtual visit with Katie, and it couldn't have been a better, easier experience. From the start of my appointment (zero wait time) to getting a prescription delivered to my house, it was maybe an hour and a half. It's been about a week since my appointment. It's already really obvious that her diagnosis was spot on, and her treatment plan was too. I've already recommended Katie and Privia primary care to friends.
