Getting to know Katherine Halpern
Katty is a Board Certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner with a multifaceted background in nursing. She earned her Bachelor's degree from Dominican University and began her career in the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit at Westchester Medical Center. It was there that she developed a passion for advocating for one of the most vulnerable patient populations and their mental health wellbeing. Her fondness for supporting patients and families during difficult times inspired her to transition to a role as a transplant coordinator, and later as an administrator, in the field of organ donation. The impact of this work with families and donors motivated her to pursue advanced education in mental health. She earned her Master of Science in Nursing with a certificate in Psychiatric and Mental Health Nursing from Pace University. Beyond her critical care experience, Katty has worked in acute psychiatric units and outpatient settings, treating a variety of diagnoses across the mental health spectrum. Her passion remains focused on improving situations and changing outcomes for the better.
What should a new client know about working with you?
I have a special interest in Anxiety Disorder and Depressive Disorders especially women's mental health. Other than traditional psychopharmacology I also offer Esketamine (Spravato) treatment for patients with treatment resistant depression in a safe and comfortable environment.
At Wonder Years we have made treatment affordable by being in network with a variety of insurances including Aetna, Cigna, Untied Health Care, Horizon Blue Cross Blue Shield, straight Medicare, Tricare as well as 1199.
What is your typical process for working with clients?
At Wonder Years we believe in a holistic approach. So we offer medication management and also individual and group therapies. We also offer new and innovative treatment options including Esketamine and TMS.
Once you make an appointment, one of our support staff would reach out to you promptly and would walk you through the process including answering questions about paperwork, insurances, scheduling and fees.

For Self Pay patients- Payments are due at the time of visit. You can request for superbills to file for claim with your insurance provider.
