Getting to know Kathleen Ingellis

My name is Kat Ingellis and I am a board certified Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP-BC). I am based in the Portland, Maine area and I work with clients statewide via TeleHealth. I provide psychiatric medication management services to children, adolescents, and adults with the purpose of symptomatic improvement in psychiatric disorders that include mood disorders, trauma, anxiety, panic disorder, neurodevelopmental disorders, psychotic disorders, substance use disorders, obsessive-compulsive disorders (OCD), and eating disorders.. My approach I combine holistic nursing theory, neuroscience, medical knowledge, and psychopharmacology to develop a client-centered plan of care individually tailored to help achieve optimum mental health and wellness. My focus I work with clients throughout the lifespan, from school aged children to older adults, from diverse ethnic backgrounds, and from the LGBTQIA+ community . I am comfortable diagnosing and treating a wide variety of psychiatric disorders that include, but are not limited to, mood disorders, anxiety/panic disorders, trauma disorders, neurodevelopmental disorders, personality disorders, psychotic disorders, substance use disorders, OCD, and eating disorders. My communication style My communication style is calm, caring, and non-judgmental. I believe listening is as important as providing professional opinions, psychoeducation, and feedback. My journey to mental healthcare I have over 20 years of bedside nursing experience in long term care, acute care, medication assisted withdrawal management from substance use, and critical care settings. My decision to become a Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner was made because of the intertwining, synergistic nature of physical and mental health, and my passion for psychiatry and helping people. My goals for you I enjoy collaborating with my clients in setting realistic, achievable goals.
