“Katy is truly one of the kindest and most skilled practitioners I’ve ever met. From the very first session, I felt incredibly cared for — she takes the time to listen deeply, remembers the small details, and brings such a grounded, thoughtful energy to each appointment. You can tell she has years of experience and intuition behind everything she does. I always leave feeling better — physically, emotionally, and energetically. Katy creates a space of real healing and trust. I feel so lucky to have found her.”

She started her private practice in San Francisco at Ume Acupuncture, learning Kiiko Matsumoto style acupuncture under Christine Chung. Katy loved the hands-on approach that Kiiko provided to get to the root cause of disease and further completed training with Monika Koblecka. She then started Root and Stem Integrative Chinese Medicine’s sliding scale acupuncture practice in Oakland, California, where she also went into private practice. Katy was a practitioner under Inclusively Well, an organization that provides subsidies for holistic healthcare to communities in need. She has worked in private internships, at DeHaro Auricular Clinic, and Glide Community Acupuncture Clinic. Katy specializes in working with complex chronic illness and autoimmune disease, digestive disorders, gender-inclusive sexual and reproductive health care, women’s health, pain and injury, substance use disorder, and supporting emotional well-being and mental health through trauma-informed care. She has experience working with diverse populations and ages, including BIPOC, LGBTQIA+, and persons with disabilities. Her approach uses gentle needling, palpation, herbal therapy, and patient education along with her knowledge of Western medicine to provide integrative care. She moved to New York City, opening Bitter & Balance Acupuncture and Integrated Medicine.

This was such a great experience for me. I was nervous about acupuncture, but when I arrived, I felt so relaxed and I appreciated Dr. Peter walking me through everything and explaining the process. I can’t believe I waited this long to try acupuncture. Thank you again will be back soon!
Katy always made me feel welcome and secure. She listened to my needs and addressed issues with attention and care. Katy is professional, inclusive and kind. Highly recommend!
I am almost lost for words trying to articulate how wonderful and life changing my experience with Dr. Katy has been. Dr. Katy immediately put me at ease and after walking out of my first visit, years of anxiety and heaviness felt as it had lifted. I recommend her to all my friends and family, and though they have different reasons for their visits, they each have greatly benefited from seeing her! Whether I am seeing her for anxiety problems, migraines, stomach issues etc, she has been able to help me with anything and everything that has come up. She also was the only one who could help me while dealing with extreme morning sickness. Dr. Katy is the most compassionate and kind person and a master at what she does!
I have seen Dr. Peters multiple times. I found her to have a kind bedside manner that made it easy for me to talk to her about my condition. Dr. Peters was also very open to discussing a treatment plan and took the time to explain the reasoning behind her approach. I would definitely recommend Dr. Peters.
Katy is a great acupuncturist!
Katy has helped me so much in only a few visits. She is so easy to talk to and immediately put me at ease with her calm and warm demeanor. Her treatments are extremely effective and gentle and her technique is amazing. I recommend Katy to all of my friends and loved ones - I just want everyone to know her.
Dr. Peter is exceptionally professional, highly empathetic, and clearly well educated, skilled and practiced. She listens well, communicates clearly, adeptly tracks symptoms (both obvious and underlying), and creates a safe and comfortable space - an incredible combo (and unfortunately rare) for healing. I have experienced healing for a variety of concerns and am fortunate to count her as a trusted doctor for both health concerns and general well-being.
Katy helped me process past birth trauma and prepare me physically and emotionally for the home birth of my dreams. She's highly intuitive and talented at what she does.
Katy was wonderful and I was so happy to have found her. She was professional and took the time to get to know me. So sad she left, but those who will get to see her will absolutely be happy and well taken care of.
I have nothing but wonderful things to say about Katy. She's a gifted healer: knowledgeable, compassionate, non-judgmental, and incredibly thoughtful. The kind of person you'd want to spend time with even if she wasn't your acupuncturist. Highly recommend!
Katy was an excellent specialist who I saw for my fertility problems. She cares for me and always showed an interest in my whole well being. Katy always made me smile. I wish she could still treat me in San Francisco. There is no one else as gifted as Katy!
I was impressed by Katy's knowledge of various ailments and how to treat them holistically. She looked at my issues as a whole body rather than individualized systems and worked with my doctors. She had a great beside manner and I enjoyed talking with her before getting needled, which was amazing!
I went to Katy for over a year in San Francisco and she helped me so much. I initially saw her seeking help for chronic pain from an injury - I had tried many things which never really helped longterm. The combination of acupuncture and taking her herb mix ended up relieving a lot of pain and improving my ability to do physical therapy. From then on she helped me with a range of complaints such as insomnia and digestion issues. I always appreciated her ability to listen to my body, provide useful treatment, and explain the concepts of Chinese medicine. I felt that she learned my body's tendencies and adjusted her approach based on what would be best for me. She always made me feel comfortable and taken care of. I highly recommend Katy!
Katy helped me so much with the symptoms of my chronic illness. She would actually take the time to listen to me and how I was feeling and apply the acupuncture needles accordingly. She answered any questions I had and explained things along the way. I was driving a total of almost 4 hours to see her! Now that she has moved across the country I am no longer able to go to her and to be honest in my search for a new acupuncturist I haven’t been able to find anyone quite as helpful as her.
Dr Peter is extremely good at what she does. Her empathy and compassion as well as her intuition and extensive training and experience make her a great acupuncturist. I recommend her highly!
Katy was amazing! She really listened to me and I felt that I was there and not just another number in line. I highly recommend Katy!
