Getting to know Katina Tsahalis
I am a Physician Assistant with an extensive background in medicine, nutrition, and leadership, having served in the U.S. Army with a deployment to Iraq. I earned my Master's in Physician Assistant Studies from Mercy University - Manhattan Campus and I currently have my doctorate in Medical Science from the University of Lynchburg, concentrating in behavioral medicine. Over the past ten years, I have worked in various subspecialties, including Otolaryngology/ENT and Surgery, serving as a first assist in the operating room within some of the largest healthcare systems in the country. I am also a Registered Dietitian with experience in both acute and long-term care settings. I hold board certifications from the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA) and the Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR). Before becoming a Physician Assistant and Registered Dietitian, I served five years on active duty in the United States Army, reaching the rank of sergeant and completing a one-year deployment to Iraq in 2004. During my military service, I received numerous decorations and medals. I have found my calling in psychiatry, focusing on nutrition and integrative medicine for mental health and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD).

A veteran who has served in Iraq and has experience in working across multiple subspecialties before specializing in Psychiatry. I am also a registered nutritionist. As a result, I am able to provide a more holistic approach to care.
