About Dr. Kayla Hill

The first step in garnering health for ourselves is relieving our central nervous system of interference so our bodies can function as designed. This is accomplished through gentle, yet effective, adjustments to the joints of the upper cervical spine. Upper cervical care focuses on maintaining proper alignment in the upper neck, or cervical spine, to relieve the central nervous system of any interference. As an upper cervical chiropractor, I primarily work with the atlas (C1) and the axis (C2) vertebrae. The junction where the head meets the neck houses the brainstem—the root of all life and communication throughout the body. Upper cervical care begins by checking the upper neck for subluxations—a misaligned joint that directly inhibits nervous system function. A subluxation at this level can be caused by many factors, such as blows or trauma to the head or neck, consistent computer work or cell phone use, sports injuries, car accidents, and even less physically traumatic causes like repeated stress at home or work, or grief. Once a subluxation in the upper cervical spine is identified, a specific set of x-rays is taken. These images are meticulously analyzed and measured according to the protocol of Orthospinology, the technique I practice. Using a specific, individualized set of measurements, patients are adjusted gently and safely with an instrument. Adjustments are delivered without guesswork or pain. It is important to note that while upper cervical care is where treatment starts, your care is not limited to the upper neck. I recognize that subluxations can occur in any joint in the body, and I am able to correct those as well, utilizing the Activator Methods protocol. I earned my Doctor of Chiropractic degree from Sherman College of Chiropractic and hold a Bachelor’s degree from the University of North Carolina, Greensboro. I am also certified in Orthospinology through the Society of Chiropractic Orthospinology.
