Adult Psychiatric & Mental Health Nurse Practitioner
NJ
Hi, I’m Dr. Keiandra Vinson, a board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner. If you’ve been feeling anxious, overwhelmed, distracted, emotionally drained, or simply not like yourself lately, you deserve a space where you can talk about what’s going on without feeling judged or rushed. My approach to psychiatric care is collaborative and straightforward. I want to know what you’re experiencing, how it is affecting your everyday life, and what you want to feel different. Together, we’ll create a treatment plan that makes sense for you. I work with children, adolescents, and adults experiencing ADHD, anxiety, depression, mood disorders, trauma-related symptoms, sleep concerns, and other mental health challenges. I provide psychiatric evaluations and medication management while taking the time to explain your diagnosis, treatment choices, expected benefits, and potential side effects. Your first appointment is a conversation, not an interrogation. We’ll talk about your symptoms, history, previous treatment experiences, medications, relationships, work or school, sleep, and the things that matter to you. You’ll also have time to ask questions. I don’t believe medication management should feel like “Here’s a prescription. See you later.” If medication is part of your treatment, I want you to understand why we’re considering it, what to expect, and what other options are available. Maybe you’ve never seen a psychiatric provider before. Maybe you’ve tried treatment and still don’t feel like you’ve found the right fit. Or maybe you know something needs to change but aren’t sure where to start. We can start there. You don’t have to have everything figured out before your first appointment. Come as you are, tell me what’s been going on, and we’ll work through the next steps together.

What should a new client know about working with you?

I want you to feel heard, understood, and involved in your care. I take time to understand what you’re experiencing, how it affects your daily life, and what you want to change. We’ll discuss treatment options together, including medications when appropriate, so you understand the purpose, benefits, and potential side effects before making decisions. My goal is to create a treatment plan that works with your life, not against it.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

We’ll start with a psychiatric evaluation where we discuss your symptoms, medical and mental health history, medications, current stressors, and treatment goals. From there, we’ll develop a plan together. This may include medication management, education, coping strategies, referrals for therapy, or coordination with other providers. Follow-up visits focus on your progress, medication response, side effects, and any changes needed to help you reach your goals.
