Dr. Portnoff’s career in rheumatology was set in motion during a clinical rotation at LA County-USC Medical Center in the late 1990s. There she was dazzled by the array and complexity of rheumatic diseases and impressed by the holistic approach to patient care modeled by her mentors, Drs. Rodanthi Kitridou and Francisco Quismorio. She also takes inspiration from her uncles, Dr. Harley Ellman and Dr. Sanford Wolfe, both rheumatologists in Dayton, OH, who devoted themselves to delivering evidence-based, high-touch patient care. Dr. Portnoff earned her Doctor of Medicine from Wright State University. She completed her internship and residency in Internal Medicine at Huntington Hospital, followed by a fellowship in Rheumatology at Scripps Green Hospital.
