Getting to know Kelsey Lonergan

Kelsey Lonergan is a board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner at Journey Psyche, providing specialized medication management for adults (18+) across Missouri, including St. Louis, Kansas City, and Columbia. Kelsey’s approach is grounded in clinical clarity and psychological safety, ensuring that psychiatric care feels steady rather than reactive. She specializes in helping patients navigate complex symptoms that have not responded to standard primary care treatments, as well as providing collaborative co-evaluations for those already working with a therapist. Whether managing high-stakes medication stability or offering diagnostic second opinions, Kelsey focuses on practical, real-world functionality — helping patients regain focus, emotional steadiness, and consistency in daily life. She is part of Journey Psyche, a multi-state psychiatry group known for structured follow-up and responsive care models that reduce gaps in treatment. As part of this model, patients also have access to a dedicated Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) who supports medication education, refill coordination, and ongoing treatment questions — ensuring there are no gaps or confusion in care. Patients also have access to a dedicated insurance educator who can help review coverage, explain benefits, and guide you through the best path forward based on your plan. In-network with Cigna, Aetna, and UnitedHealthcare.

What should a new client know about working with you?

At Journey Psyche, we use a structured, low-friction onboarding process designed to help you get started quickly and clearly. 1. Clinical Discovery (Intake) You will receive a secure digital intake form to complete before your visit. This allows us to understand your history, symptoms, and goals ahead of time so your appointment is focused and productive. 2. Psychiatric Evaluation (60 minutes) Your first session is a comprehensive evaluation where we review your medical history, current symptoms, and any prior treatment experiences. 3. Treatment Roadmap You will leave your first visit with a clear plan, which may include medication recommendations, a structured follow-up schedule, and coordination with your therapist if applicable. 4. Medication Support & Refill Coordination Patients have access to a dedicated Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) who helps manage medication questions, refill coordination, and ongoing education. This ensures prescriptions stay consistent and patients are never left without support between visits. Our goal is to provide clarity, direction, and a strong start from day one.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

Typical Process for Working with Clients * Collaborative Investigation: We move beyond surface symptoms to understand the history and "drivers" of your distress. * Diagnostic Clarity (The Co-Evaluation): If you are already in therapy, Kelsey provides a "medical lens" to your care, syncing with your therapist to ensure your medication and talk-therapy goals are aligned. * Function-First Treatment: We don't just target a diagnosis; we target your ability to work, relate, and function daily. * Stability & Maintenance: Ongoing care focuses on maintaining your "baseline" with the lowest effective dose and consistent, scheduled follow-ups.
