About Dr. Kenneth Alleyne
Kenneth R. Alleyne, MD, is a board-certified orthopaedic surgeon specializing in sports medicine with a focus on injury prevention and the maintenance of healthy, active lifestyles in patients from school age to active seniors. His practice mainly focuses on the surgical and non-surgical management of problems in the shoulder and knee, as well as sports medicine and total knee replacement using minimally invasive and advanced arthroscopic techniques.
He has provided medical coverage for a number of national and international sports organizations, including USA Cycling, USA Boxing, Team Connecticut Baseball, and CVC Subaru Cycling Team, as well as many high school athletic programs.
Dr. Alleyne earned his Doctor of Medicine from Wake Forest University. He completed an internship in General Surgery at Washington Hospital Center, followed by residency training in Orthopedic Surgery at Howard University Hospital. He then completed a sports medicine fellowship at Yale University. He also spent a year at the Harvard-MIT Division of Health Sciences and Technology as a research fellow working on novel biopolymers. He has published and presented in the fields of sports medicine, tissue engineering, and health information technology. His clinical research interests include minimally invasive surgical techniques, injury prevention, computers in medicine, and cartilage and tissue repair. His belief in the importance of maintaining active lifestyles has allowed him to work closely with schools in designing programs to improve safe sports participation for school-age athletes.
He currently serves as an Assistant Clinical Professor of Orthopaedic Surgery at the University of Connecticut School of Medicine. Dr. Alleyne lives in Connecticut with his wife and their two children.
