About Dr. Krishna Patel
Dr. Krishna Patel is a Des Plaines native! She graduated from Maine West High School and went on to University of Wisconsin-Madison, earning a B.S. in Biology and Political Science. She obtained her medical degree at Midwestern University-Chicago College of Osteopathic Medicine. She completed her internal medicine residency training at Saint Louis University and gastroenterology, hepatology and nutrition fellowship training at Loyola University Medical Center.
Dr. Patel is a board-certified gastroenterologist who specializes in inflammatory bowel disease, including Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis. Other interests include general gastroenterology, colon cancer screening, microscopic colitis, as well as endoscopy and colonoscopy procedures. She has a particular interest in objective documentation/communication of disease activity using endoscopic scoring systems in inflammatory bowel disease and works on creating educational modules for other gastroenterologists.
She is an active member of the American Gastroenterological Association, American College of Gastroenterology, and Crohn’s and Colitis Foundation.
Dr. Patel lives by the following motto - “Better Your Mind, Better Your Body, Better Your Spirit. It’s what I work to achieve each day and what I strive to help my patients achieve as well. My goal for my patients is to maximize their positive gastrointestinal outcomes at every angle so that they can reach this level of wellness that they deserve. I strive to heal the individual, rather than to just treat the disease.”
In Dr. Patel’s free time, she enjoys spending time with her family and friends, while exploring the Chicago food scene. You will find her at Orangetheory Fitness if not in clinic or the endoscopy lab. She is an avid Chicago sports fan, and particularly enjoys commissioning her fantasy football league each year.

Doctor Patel was hands down the best doctor I have ever been to. I was really nervous for my appointment and from the moment she stepped foot into the room I knew I was in good hands. She is incredibly kind, empathetic and smart. She listened to my concerns and comforted me when it was difficult to articulate how I was feeling. The way she made me feel seen and heard is something every patient should feel when discussing their health. I cannot say enough good things about Doctor Patel, she truly is the best of the best.

I've been dealing with abdominal issues most of my life, but the symptoms have began to get progressively worst. I was not able to find a doctor in my general healthcare network who can see me immediately. I was at first hesitant because I thought Dr. Patel looked to have just completed high school studies, yet not old enough to be a physician. She was very nice, informative and had the traditional "bedside" a lot of physicians have seem to lost. I will HIGHLY recommend her and the the staff which were are very helpful and polite.

I was very impressed with Dr. Patel. She is intelligent, personable, and really listened to my concerns. She explained everything very thoroughly. The wait was pretty long (about an hour) but it was worth it. I would definitely see her again and recommend her to others.
