Hi there, I'm LaKisha!
I am LaKisha Knight- a board-certified psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner(PMHNP-BC), with a Masters in Nursing Practice. I am passionate about providing quality, compassionate, and comprehensive mental health services to children, adolescents, and adults. I possess strong clinical skills enhanced by a natural ability to build rapport with patients and families. I follow evidence-based guidelines blended with clinical experience, personal observation, and intuition. With over a decade of psychiatric nursing experience coupled with years of Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner practice in private practice, hospitals, community clinics, and correctional settings.

My approach to care is to always foster a synergistic relationship between the patients and myself in order to encourage the patients to take an active role in managing their mental health.
My focus
As a Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner, I am very well-versed in clinical presentations and effective treatments for Depression, Anxiety, Schizophrenia, Bipolar Disorder, Insomnia, and ADHD.
My communication style
My desire is always to create an environment that is a "safe space" for the patient to share their true feelings, experiences, and symptoms without fear of judgment.
My journey to mental healthcare
My first job in healthcare during nursing school as a Mental Health Tech or Patient Care Tech in a hospital psychiatric ward. As I matriculated to nursing school, I became very knowledgeable regarding the different mental health diagnoses, symptoms, and treatment modalities which made becoming a Mental Health Nurse/Nurse Practitioner a natural progression for me.
My goals for you
When setting goals with Patients, I feel it is important to discuss with the Patient what their expectations are from seeking treatment and to list what are some small changes that will significantly improve their overall well-being.
