About Larry Cooke

I built my career in medicine by starting where the stakes are highest: the cardiac intensive care unit. As a registered nurse, I cared for patients recovering from open heart surgery, advanced heart failure, heart attacks and cardiac arrest, and I learned how to manage complex, fast-changing situations while keeping patients and their families informed and calm. That experience shaped how I practice today. I know what it feels like to sit with a family during a frightening moment, and I bring that same steadiness and attention to every patient I see now as a family nurse practitioner.My path into family medicine grew directly out of my nursing background. Before completing my family nurse practitioner training, I spent more than five years working in cardiovascular intensive care and cardiac catheterization labs, including time on a structural heart team supporting procedures such as TAVR and mitral clip repair. I also completed clinical training across a wide range of settings, including adult primary care, cardiology, women's health and pediatrics, which gave me hands-on experience managing conditions like high blood pressure, diabetes, thyroid disorders, asthma, arthritis and common infections, along with well-child and well-woman care. This mix of bedside nursing and broad clinical training helps me recognize when something needs closer attention.
