About Dr. Larry Ertel
Dr. Larry Ertel is board certified in internal medicine, pediatrics and clinical informatics. He serves the St. Petersburg, Florida area where he sees patients age 12 and older for BayCare Medical Group. He received an undergraduate degree in biology from the University of Kentucky and his Doctor of Medicine degree from the University of Kentucky School of Medicine in Lexington, Kentucky. Dr. Ertel continued his medical education by completing an internal medicine and pediatrics residency at Indiana University School of Medicine/Methodist campus in Indianapolis, Indiana. Dr. Ertel has been practicing medicine and treating children and adults, since 1996. He provides care for colds, flu and upper respiratory infections, diabetes, hypertension and high cholesterol, ear, throat and sinus infections. He performs annual exams as part of his preventive health care practice. Dr. Ertel is a fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics, and certified in advanced cardiac life support, pediatric advanced life support and neonatal resuscitation.

Doctor Ertel is superb. He takes his time. As a patient, you do not feel rushed. He listens carefully to your report. He’s smart, thorough, and has a good deal of common sense. You walk out of your appointment feeling that you are in good hands. I would not hesitate to keep seeing Dr. Ertel, and I would not hesitate to recommend him to others. Also, the overall experience at the Baycare primary care clinic was excellent. The staff were friendly. The waiting area was not crowded, and it was neat and clean. Everyone I dealt with was competent. I was seeing exactly on time. Generally, as far as medical offices go, the entire experience was excellent. I can definitely recommend this clinic, and I will continue to be a patient there myself.

I loved it that this firm did not charge a huge upfront "first time patient" charge. Those charges usually make you not want to change or try a different physician.

Loved the doctor…did not feel like a number or in an assembly line operation. He is very personable, a good listener and easy to talk to. Getting insurance info on file was a bit challenging over the phone but got it done. Better done with their online pre-registration. Pre-registration text received day before appointment, so could have been done a bit earlier to give you more time to get it done. Overall, good experience and will be using Dr Ertel as PCP!

Highly recommend Dr Ertle! I moved to Florida and did not have a Dr . I wanted to get a physical and have all my bloodwork checked out! We spent about an hour discussing my health and the blood lab was right down the hall. He was easy to talk with and seemed to genuinely care. Great listener and I am confident in his abilities! Office was very nice and cleanly. All support staff were very polite, friendly, and professional and I was impressed by their patience and courteousness when faced with another patient who went on a tirade because he thought his rights were being violated by an intake form that was 90% optional.
