She believes in functional medicine and identifying the root cause rather than simply treating symptoms, while also finding the right balance between Western, functional, and naturopathic approaches. A teacher at heart, Laura enjoys educating her patients in ways to optimize their health. She also enjoys the relationship-building side of primary care and finds it rewarding to watch her patients’ health improve. Laura comes to OnePeak Medical after a long career in surgical services. Since 1988, she has held many roles in the perioperative arena, including scrubbing, circulating, first assisting, and clinical educator, and she has been certified as an RN in the operating room (CNOR) since 1991. Laura received her BSN from the University of Phoenix in 2011. Wanting to care for surgical patients throughout the entire perioperative experience, from pre-op to assisting in their surgery and following with them afterward, she returned to school to earn her MSN as a Family Nurse Practitioner in 2016, as well as her Doctor of Nursing Practice in 2018 from Western University of Health Sciences. After spending time in Family Practice, she worked as a Vascular Nurse Practitioner, fulfilling her desire to care for patients throughout the perioperative spectrum. She is certified as an FNP and is a member of professional organizations including the American Association of Nurse Practitioners (AANP) and the Association of perioperative Registered Nurses (AORN).
