My approach My most common theoretical approach is acceptance and cognitive behavioral therapy. I feel everyone needs to have positive coping mechanisms and knowledge of how the negative thoughts/feelings impact the day-to-day life. Acceptance of unhelpful thoughts and feelings and finding a way forward to live with the chosen values. My focus I typically work with patients with depression, anxiety, PTSD, mood disorders, and bipolar disorder. I am most comfortable with treating any of the above. My communication style I am respectful, calm, and like to laugh. I listen and will repeat the question or what was said if I feel I don't understand. I am present in the moment. I want to meet the needs of my patients and am honest about what I will and will not prescribe. My journey to mental healthcare I have been in healthcare for over 20 years. I became a nurse practitioner with the thought of broadening my knowledge and ability to make an impact on patients. I took my first job as an NP in psychiatry and have never looked back, I had never worked in psychiatry before. I love what I do. I think I am driven to work to hopefully impact patients in a positive manner and give them hope. My goals for you I like to set small, achievable goals in the beginning. As time goes on we can discuss more complex goals.
