Dr. Lawrence Abah, DNP, PMHNP, treats patients starting from 12 years old. He is dual board certified in across-the-lifespan psychiatry and family practice. Lawrence believes in using a holistic approach to behavioral health and partnering with his clients for the best treatment outcomes. He values the development of a strong therapeutic alliance with his patients and prides himself on providing patient-focused, high-quality, and individualized care. With more than 15 years of experience in behavioral health, he understands how difficult it is to find a provider who truly cares about your holistic wellness.
Lawrence earned a master's degree in Family Nursing from Governors State University, and both a master's degree in Psychiatric Mental Health Nursing and a Doctor of Nursing Practice from Northern Kentucky University.
He uses cutting-edge techniques like pharmacogenetic testing-a simple cheek swab that helps customize treatment options based on your genetics to reduce medication sensitivity, trial-and-error, and multiple medications. He also offers TMS, a non-invasive, non-medication, FDA-approved treatment for depression and anxiety, covered by most healthcare plans. Dr. Abah and his team also treat depression with Spravato, which is very effective at rapidly reducing depression symptoms.

He's well rounded practitioner that parots what you. So understand that your visits may range from 30 to 70 minutes based on his discretion. Not to say his point of view is the right point of view but at the same time. He's going to feed off of you so he's going to think that how you talk to him is how you talk to whoever you have an issue with which is not the case always. So be mindful how you express yourself because he could be having a bad day as well.

I only booked with him because I was having an adverse reaction to medication and couldn't get ahold of my regular psychiatrist, but he honestly made me consider switching doctors. Very kind, seemed to really think through what I was saying, and highlighted that the diagnosis I'm currently being treated for may actually be the wrong diagnosis. After looking into it more on my own, he might be right. I was very impressed.
