Leah Hughes, NP

Nurse Practitioner
26 W Dry Creek Cir, Ste 520, Littleton, CO
Hello, I am Leah. I am a board-certified acute care nurse practitioner by the American Nursing Credentialing Center and completed my master’s in nursing from the University of Kentucky as well as a bachelor’s in psychology from Purdue University. I am trained in Functional Medicine by The American Academy of Anti-Aging Medicine (A4M). I have over twenty years of experience in healthcare and review it in-brief here so you can feel comfortable with my extensive level of experience. I practice Functional/Integrative medicine which involves treating the root cause not just the symptoms. A functional/integrative approach allows me to look at your health from a “no stone unturned” approach. Meaning negative symptoms arise from all different reasons and causes. These range from nutritional deficiencies, toxin exposures, infections (viruses, bacteria, fungi), hormone imbalances, genetics, and lifestyle choices. When we get to the “REASON” or “ROOT CAUSE” for the symptoms instead of just treating the symptoms we can correct the issue at the source and have a more permanent resolution and positive outcome. I have always had a desire to support and help others. I started my career as a case manager for the chronically mentally ill, supporting this population in achieving independence and healthy lives. This experience gave me knowledge, and empathy in the complexities of associated with managing one’s everyday life in conjunction with medical issues and the added effort and energy it takes to get better. These things are not easy to do for the average individual who is healthy and it becomes so much more challenging when you are not. I get that! I love medicine and science. Not only did I support my patients directly, but when one person is affected by an accident or illness the whole family is. As a nurse I always keep this in mind and make sure I am supporting not only the patient but everyone involved in their care.
