About Dr. Lewis Shi

*Please note: Dr. Lewis Shi only sees patients ages 12+* Lewis Shi, MD, is an orthopaedic surgeon specializing in shoulder injuries and sports medicine. He earned his Doctor of Medicine from Harvard Medical School and completed both his residency and fellowship at Massachusetts General Hospital. Dr. Shi's expertise includes rotator cuff and labral tears, shoulder dislocation, and total and reverse shoulder replacement. Using a shared decision-making approach, he works closely with patients to maximize non-operative management before considering surgery. When surgery is necessary, he offers minimally invasive (arthroscopic) and open procedures tailored to each patient's specific condition. An active researcher, Dr. Shi has published more than 100 peer-reviewed scientific articles and 10 book chapters. His current research focuses on the molecular basis of rotator cuff tears and the biomechanics of shoulder arthritis. He frequently lectures nationally and internationally and teaches courses sponsored by national orthopaedic associations. Dr. Shi also serves as the editor-in-chief of the Journal of Shoulder and Elbow Arthroplasty.

Dr. Lewis was very respectful and courteous. I just felt like my problem wasn't getting resolved or handled. Obviously I was in a pain I don't think therapy was the answer. I believe some type of pain method was important.. I feel like I didn't get what I needed..
