Adult Psychiatric & Mental Health Nurse Practitioner
2111 E Baseline Rd Ste C6, Tempe, AZ
Nearly twenty years ago, I came to nursing because of people. Because of the way I could connect with them and see the parts of them that aren't always easy to find. That hasn't changed. What has deepened is my understanding of how much those hidden parts matter to healing. I am dually board-certified as a Family Nurse Practitioner and a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner, with additional board certification in pain management. That combination is not accidental. Many care models treat either the mind or the body, but chronic pain, chronic illness, and the changes of aging all live at the intersection of the two. Pain management is my primary focus and the sharpest example of this work: the physical mechanism, the psychiatric weight of living with it, and the complete medical picture around it. The same approach guides my care for those living with chronic illness and the challenges of aging. I am most called to serve the patients who have hit a wall. The ones whose treatment has plateaued, where something essential remains unnamed and unaddressed. If that is you, you are in the right place.

What should a new client know about working with you?

My approach is conservative and collaborative. Medication can be a powerful tool, but it works best as one part of a plan, not the whole plan. I prescribe thoughtfully, at the lowest effective dose, and only when it genuinely serves your goals. Alongside medication, I draw on integrative and holistic strategies, including psychotherapy, lifestyle and whole-body approaches, and attention to the physical roots of what you are feeling. My aim is lasting change, not a quick fix. Throughout our work, you are a partner in every decision. I take the time to understand the full picture, mind and body, and we shape the plan together as we go.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

Our first visit is longer and unhurried. I want to understand your full history, what you are living with now, what you have already tried, and what matters most to you. Because I am trained in both physical and mental health, I look at the whole picture, mind and body, rather than a single symptom. The first meeting is the start of that process, not the finish. A careful diagnosis and a complete plan often take more than one visit. We may need to request records from past providers, complete diagnostic labs, and keep exploring topics that surface along the way. I would rather get this right than rush it, so your plan evolves as we learn more together. From there, visits are a blend of medication management and talk therapy, shaped around what you need. Some focus on how a treatment is working and what to adjust. Others are given to therapy and the deeper work of understanding patterns, stress, and change. Many people benefit from both, and we set the balance together. You are never a passive recipient of care. I explain my thinking, welcome your questions, and adjust as we learn what works. Progress is not always a straight line, and I will be alongside you through it.
