I scheduled an urgent appointment because I was at risk of running out of a psychotropic medication that I take regularly, and missing doses can cause significant withdrawal symptoms. During the appointment, I understood that the prescription would be sent in, but it was never filled.
Over the following 24 hours, I reached out approximately five times trying to get clarification and help, and I received no response. I ultimately began experiencing severe withdrawal symptoms because the medication was not sent in as expected.
I understand that providers are busy and that prescription issues can happen, but when a patient is seeking urgent medication management, especially for a medication that should not be abruptly discontinued, communication is extremely important. The lack of follow-up and inability to get a response during an urgent situation was extremely concerning and left me without needed medication.
