My name is Linda Oppong. I am a dual board-certified family and psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner with over a decade of work experience in multiple healthcare settings. I developed a passion for mental health during my years as an advanced practice clinician. As a result, I pursued further education and graduated with honors during both phases of graduate studies. My approach to mental health care is ensuring that treatment care plans are patient-centric as well as evidence-based. All plans are devised in collaboration with the patient. My theoretical approach varies based on the needs of the patient. However, my frequently utilized psychotherapy modality is the use of cognitive behavioral therapy. Medication management is based on current evidence-based recommendations. My patient population ranges from adolescents to the adult population. Top specialties include: anxiety, depression, bipolar disorder, insomnia, psychotic disorders, etc. I collaborate with my clients in navigating mental health disorders with the utilization of medication therapy and/or psychotherapy. Together with the client, we develop coping skills to effectively manage distressing symptoms. Compassionate care is rendered in a comfortable, non-judgmental, and embracing environment. My communication style is calm, accommodating, and affable. Personally knowing people affected by mental illness, I was driven to make an impact within this space. I wanted to join the effort in increasing access to mental health care as well as destigmatizing mental health disorders. My approach to goal setting with clients is centered on working together to develop a carefully tailored treatment care plan that is suitable for the client. I also practice measurement-based care, where screenings are used to track clients' progress over time.
