What should a new client know about working with you?

I bring over 17 years of clinical experience to my work as a trauma-informed psychologist and licensed marriage and family therapist. Alongside my private practice, I have served as an adjunct and associate professor at the College of the Canyons, Antioch University, and Pepperdine University, where I trained future clinicians in psychology, statistics, and evidence-based practice. My research reflects my commitment to integrating science with compassionate care. On June 11, 2014, I published my doctoral dissertation, A Comparison of Neurocognitive Function in Opioid and Non-Opioid Using Chronic Pain Patients, which explored the intersection of pain management, brain function, and quality of life. In therapy, I focus on creating a safe, nonjudgmental environment where you can explore challenges, build resilience, and rediscover your strengths. I have extensive experience working with trauma survivors, veterans, first responders, and individuals facing major life transitions. Clients often tell me they appreciate my ability to balance warmth with directness — offering both understanding and actionable strategies for change. My goal is for you to leave each session feeling heard, supported, and equipped with tools you can apply in your daily life.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

My approach is both evidence-based and deeply personalized. I integrate proven therapeutic models such as CBT, DBT, and other trauma-informed interventions with insights from my years of psychoanalytic work. This allows me to address immediate concerns while also exploring deeper patterns that may influence thoughts, emotions, and relationships. I believe therapy is most effective when it is collaborative. From the very first session, I work with you to identify your goals, clarify your needs, and create a treatment plan tailored specifically to you. This plan is flexible and we will revisit and refine it together as you progress, ensuring that it continues to reflect your evolving priorities. Ultimately, my process is designed to help you build insight, develop practical coping strategies, and create lasting change — at a pace that feels safe and supportive for you.
