About Dr. Lisa DeVries

My nursing career began at the Veterans' Affairs hospital. I loved working with the adult and older adult population there, and wanted to focus on preventive and primary care to help avoid hospitalizations. That eventually led me to pursuing adult gerontology primary care as my specialty. I am still very motivated to help my patients maintain good health and prevent adverse events that could affect overall quality of life. I want my patients to feel comfortable discussing all of their health concerns. I encourage them to have an open dialogue with me, so they can share their thoughts and I can offer evidence-based suggestions for ways to improve their health. I know that healthcare can be overwhelming and scary, and I try to make options as simple and easy to understand as possible. My very supportive husband and our two young daughters keep me busy and happy away from the office. We love spending time together, finding events around town like farmers' markets or arts festivals to explore. I also love listening to audiobooks and dabbling in home decorating. My green thumb has been getting a workout; I like taking care of houseplants and I've recently gotten into outdoor gardening.
