About Dr. Lisa Masterson
Dr. Lisa Masterson is a specialist in obstetrics, gynecology, infertility, adolescent gynecology, and family planning. She is best recognized as the Emmy-nominated co-host of the Emmy-winning syndicated daytime medical talk show, The Doctors. She also hosts a popular weekly lifestyle podcast, Health in Heels.
Dr. Masterson's unique practice includes a myriad of services not found in traditional gynecological medicine, paving the way for advancement in her field. Gynecology merges with esthetic services at her Ocean Oasis Medical Spa, which offers customized spa treatments as well as exercise and nutrition programs tailored specifically to each phase of a woman's life.
At the forefront of education, Dr. Masterson holds seminars on adolescent sexuality for teens and parents and has written *Go Figure*, a workbook for young girls detailing the changes throughout their bodies.
Her reach stretches across borders. Striving to provide global medical relief to underdeveloped regions, Dr. Masterson created Maternal Fetal Care International, a charitable organization dedicated to making every mother and child count worldwide. MFCI brings volunteer physicians to treat needy women and children and provides medical supplies, equipment, and training to elevate the standard of care and decrease mother-child transmission of HIV/AIDS. In addition to establishing birthing centers in Kenya and India, Dr. Masterson co-founded in Eritrea the first OB/GYN residency program in all of sub-Saharan Africa.
Locally, she founded Mobile Mom Squad, which offers education, counseling, resources, and prenatal exams to underserved moms and moms-to-be.
Dr. Masterson completed her undergraduate studies at Mount Holyoke College in Massachusetts. She earned her Doctor of Medicine degree from the Keck School of Medicine of the University of Southern California, where she also completed her residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology.

As a new patient with 10+ years of PCOS history, I came prepared with documentation and a genuine intent to establish care. During the visit, I asked a standard question—whether, if medically appropriate in the future, she would consider completing intermittent FMLA forms to support occasional appointments. As someone who works in HR and LOA compliance, I asked this responsibly to ensure proper documentation for my employer. Instead of answering professionally, Dr. Lisa (aka Dr. Pink) laughed, referenced conditions I don’t have, and repeatedly insisted her husband, a lawyer, “wouldn’t condone that.” When I calmly clarified, she cut me off with “It’s doctor to you.” She hadn’t reviewed my labs or medical history before shutting down the conversation, then called in her office manager and recounted the situation inaccurately. Her bedside manner was dismissive and condescending. If you need supportive, informed care for a chronic condition, I would strongly consider a different provider.

Doctor is friendly and clear in communicating expectations for this appointment as a new patient and for future visits. I didn't know that parking on the 1st level costs $5 per hour, cash only - be prepared with cash if you want to park downstairs in the same building. Otherwise, it looked like street parking would be first come first serve on the surrounding streets. I was not seen until 45 minutes after checking in (10 minutes prior to scheduled time) although my time with the doctor was only about 15 minutes include blood draw so I ended up paying for 2 hours for parking.
