About Dr. Lita Buttolph
Dr. Lita Buttolph is a Licensed Acupuncturist and Certified Qi Gong Instructor who provides gentle, compassionate care to help patients activate their own self-healing and empowerment. She earned her Doctor of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine degree from the National University of Natural Medicine.
Dr. Buttolph’s passion for Chinese Medicine began over 20 years ago through the study of Wild Goose Qi Gong, a 1700-year-old Chinese movement art. After just one month of practice, she experienced dramatic improvements in her health and overall well-being. She continued practicing and received her teaching certification in 2005. Today, she teaches Qi Gong classes throughout Portland, including specialized sessions for people with MS, other neurological conditions, and mental health challenges. Her deep study of this subtle form of Qi Gong has shaped her appreciation for the power of gentle approaches to healing.
She works with patients of all ages and abilities, including children and the elderly. Her gentle techniques are especially suited for sensitive individuals. A typical treatment session includes a thorough intake, Chinese pulse and tongue assessment, and a combination of acupuncture, moxibustion, and gentle bodywork. She may also prescribe Chinese herbal formulas, recommend simple Qi Gong exercises, and offer dietary guidance based on Chinese medical dietetics. In addition to leading group Qi Gong classes, she provides individual Qi Gong sessions tailored to each patient’s needs.
