Getting to know Dr. Lori Peppers

Dr. Peppers works with patients to meet the goals that matter most to them. She believes that feeling heard and understood are key factors in a successful treatment relationship. After earning her Doctor of Medicine from SUNY Upstate Medical University and completing her residency in psychiatry at Upstate University Hospital, Dr. Peppers began her career in private practice and held various roles at the Department of Veterans Affairs. She has been working in telehealth since 2018 and most enjoys working in the clinic because of the opportunity for long-term follow-up. She has extensive experience treating patients dealing with trauma from childhood abuse, assaults, combat, and accidents, as well as depression, anxiety disorders, bipolar disorder, ADHD, and personality disorders. Dr. Peppers enjoys her work and incorporates psychotherapy into her appointments. She offers medication options to treat symptoms but also collaborates with patients to examine behaviors and defenses that may contribute to their problems. For those who would benefit from more extensive psychotherapy, she may refer patients to a therapist and work collaboratively with them. She begins with a thorough evaluation to make a diagnosis, then works with patients to determine their treatment goals and develops a plan to meet those goals.
