About Dr. Lotus Ahmed
Dr. Lotus Ahmed is an American Board Certified Internist. She earned her Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degree from the New York Institute of Technology, New York College of Osteopathic Medicine in Old Westbury. She completed her residency in Internal Medicine at NewYork-Presbyterian Queens in 2012. Before medical school, she attended Barnard College for her bachelor's and completed post-baccalaureate studies at Columbia University.
During residency, Dr. Ahmed received the "Best Resident" award for two consecutive years. After residency, she joined the Hospitalist group at NYP Queens for two years, playing a key academic role in training residents. Her excellence as an educator earned her the "Best Attending Award" in her first year. She was appointed Associate Program Director in her second year as an attending. Despite these achievements, her passion was to return to serve her community in Brooklyn.
In 2014, she took an administrative and academic position at Coney Island Hospital. Serving an immigrant population exposed her to a wide range of pathologies, enriching her training and confidence. Her dedication to teaching earned her the "Best Teaching Award" at Coney Island Hospital.
In 2015, Dr. Ahmed began her outpatient primary care practice. Due to unforeseen circumstances, she merged her practice in 2017 and returned to her own office in January 2022.
Today, Dr. Ahmed brings a comprehensive background in inpatient and outpatient medicine. She quickly recognizes acute ailments needing hospitalization versus those manageable outpatient. Her focus extends beyond treatment to prevention. She understands health as an intricate, comprehensive system-reflected in her personalized care.
