Getting to know Dr. Louis Barton
Louis Barton is a Psychiatrist with more than 40 years of experience. He started UCLA when he was 16 and by 18 was working as an EEG technician in a sleep research lab. In his senior year of medical school, Louis completed a student clinical research fellowship at the NIMH in psychopharmacology.
Louis believes it is important to understand the patient’s context of their symptoms and the impact they have on the whole person, as the same symptom can be from very different and overlapping issues. He strives to use fewer medications, prescribed at doses based on the science. Louis offers cognitive based strategic therapy with a strong emphasis on trauma survival. He works to give useful suggestions using examples that would be familiar to a person’s unique experiences.
In his spare time, Louis enjoys playing and building guitars, remodeling his home, and fixing old cars.

Dr. Barton is amazing. I love the way he takes the time to listen and explain his proposed treatment. Since I have started seeing him, I can just tell a difference. He connects instead of just writing a script and checking a box. He is very responsive through the portal and is always willing to adjust if necessary. He takes the time to explain the treatment and what may and/or may not be a side effect. He's great and would recommend him to anyone.

He listened to me and what had worked for me in the past and prescribed accordingly. Instead of changing my medication completely He wanted to try adding something to it which is different then my other doctors. He signed on immediately when his previous visit ended early. Very good bedside manner. Would highly recommend
