Dr. Louis Michaelos becomes the third generation Ophthalmologist to join St. Michael’s Eye & Laser Institute alongside his father Dr. John Michaelos and his grandfather, Dr. Louis Michaelos, Sr. We are excited to continue the legacy with his incredible talents.
Louis received his undergraduate degree in Biology at Stetson University. He earned his degree in Osteopathic Medicine at Nova Southeastern University in Fort Lauderdale and completed his internship training in South Miami. He completed his residency at Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine where he served as chief resident. After graduating, he attended the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill where he completed a fellowship in Cornea and Refractive surgery. Louis is Board Certified through the National Board of Examiners in Ophthalmology.
In addition to treating and managing ocular diseases, Louis specializes in corneal transplantation, refractive surgeries such as LASIK and PRK, refractive lens exchange, anterior segment reconstruction, and advanced cataract surgery. His professional memberships include the American Academy of Ophthalmology, the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery, and the Pinellas County Ophthalmology Society.

The office seemed a little overbooked. I waited for more than an hour and the doctor saw me for less than 3 minutes. Although he seems very competent, one gets the impression that he can't dedicate the right amount of time due to the deluge of people in the office.
