Dr. Luis C. Grau is a board-certified, fellowship-trained orthopedic surgeon specializing in hip, shoulder, and knee conditions. As Medical Director and Chief of Adult Joint Reconstruction at Grau Orthopaedics, he has been recognized as a Castle Connolly Top Doctor and Rising Star. He also serves as Director of Robotic Joint Replacement at Hudson Regional Hospital, focusing on minimally invasive techniques like arthroscopy, direct anterior hip replacement, quad-sparing knee replacement, and robotic-assisted joint replacement.
Born in Havana, Cuba, and raised in Miami, Dr. Grau was inspired by his father, also an orthopedic surgeon. He attended the University of Miami on an academic scholarship, graduating with high honors and induction into the Golden Key Honor Society. He earned his medical degree in Chicago with an academic scholarship from the Hispanic Center of Excellence, serving as class president and graduating as a member of the Alpha Omega Alpha (AOA) Honor Society.
Dr. Grau completed his orthopedic residency at the University of Miami, gaining extensive experience in trauma, joint replacement, arthroscopy, and sports medicine while contributing to the care of the Miami Marlins and University of Miami Athletics. He then completed a joint replacement fellowship at the Rothman Institute, performing over 1,000 joint replacements and specializing in robotic surgery and complex revisions.
Dr. Grau has published extensively in peer-reviewed journals, presented at national and international conferences, and serves on the editorial board of The American Journal of Orthopaedics. His patient-first philosophy prioritizes effective treatments and compassionate care, treating each patient like family.

I was told by the doctor that he looked at my x-rays and that is how he knew my knee was bone on bone, Mind you I DID NOT BRING ANY XRAYS
Also, His MA sat her butt on the exam table ( I thought I was the patient) while I sat in a chair and seemed clueless to what was happening including not knowing about the x-ray issue when doctor asked her.
Front desk was all over the place, unorganized.
Dr. Grau is what I would call a DIG ME....making sure he praised himself while overtalking me as I tried to ask questions and get more formally with his practice.
Would not recommend this physician best off my experience. He may be a good surgeon, but personal (for me) plays a part in decision making when it comes to my health.

Dr Grau is attentive, caring, and knowledgeable. He explains everything and is very reassuring. He went over my hip xray and MRI with me. I am confident that I made the right choice with choosing him for my surgeon.

If they don’t treat certain conditions, please inform us and cancel our visits. We don’t need to waste 2 visits, time and money just so have the doctor be rude. Front desks need to learn what the doctor treats.
