Very disappointing experience for a routine physical. I came in as a healthy 32-year-old to establish care. I waited about 15 minutes before being acknowledged, then had to redo paperwork I had already completed online.
My blood pressure was taken once by a nurse using what appeared to be a basic home-style monitor. It was elevated, but was never rechecked. I then spent about 10 minutes with a PA rather than the physician. There was no physical examination, just a brief medical history discussion. Based largely on that single reading, the PA was already discussing blood pressure medication and additional testing.
I monitored my BP at home for several days afterward and my readings have been completely normal, making the office reading appear to have been an outlier.
I expected a thorough physical and a measured approach before recommending medication and testing. Instead, the experience felt like I was being moved toward additional services and treatment based on bad information.
