Dr. Lynn Jacobson, MD

Dr. Lynn Jacobson, MD

Psychiatrist
KY
I am a board-certified psychiatrist (MD) with eight years of medical and psychiatric training and over a decade of experience caring for adults in the outpatient psychiatry setting. I provide psychiatric care through convenient telehealth visits, helping patients manage anxiety, depression, panic attacks, and other emotional concerns. As a physician, I evaluate symptoms from an integrated perspective, including the ways physical health, medications, and mental health can affect one another. In my independent practice, you meet directly with me for your initial evaluation and follow-up appointments. Seeing the same psychiatrist over time allows us to build a trusting relationship and make treatment decisions with an understanding of your history, goals, and what has or has not helped. My work includes helping adults who are new to treatment, as well as those who have tried medications with limited benefit or troublesome side effects. I look carefully at previous treatment experiences and the course of your symptoms to guide my recommendations. My goal is to help you feel better while keeping treatment manageable and paying close attention to how it affects your day-to-day life. Whether you are seeking psychiatric care for the first time or looking for a fresh perspective on your current treatment, I welcome your questions and concerns. My goal is for you to feel heard, comfortable speaking openly, and clear about the next steps in your care.

What should a new client know about working with you?

Based in Lexington, Kentucky, I provide online psychiatric evaluations and medication management for adults throughout Kentucky and Texas. You can expect direct communication, thoughtful recommendations, and ongoing care with the same psychiatrist. Your appointments are with me, and I want you to feel comfortable asking questions or expressing concerns. At your first visit, we will discuss your symptoms, medical and psychiatric history, previous treatments, and what you would like to change. You do not need to know your diagnosis or which medication might help—that is part of what we will work through. I explain what I recommend and why, including potential benefits and side effects of medication. Your experience matters: a treatment needs to help you feel and function better while being tolerable and practical for your life. Follow-up visits are a chance to assess progress, address concerns, and make adjustments. Please be open about missed doses, side effects, or symptoms that feel difficult to discuss. That information helps me provide better care, and you can share it without judgment.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

Before your first appointment, you will complete intake forms about your symptoms, health history, and current medications. All visits take place through secure telehealth; please join from a private, quiet location. During the initial evaluation, which is usually 45-60 minutes, we will review your concerns, discuss your medical and psychiatric history, and explore how your symptoms affect your daily life. We will then discuss my assessment and recommended next steps, which may include medication, therapy, or further evaluation. If medication is prescribed, I will explain how to take it, what to expect, and potential side effects. We will schedule follow-up visits to assess your response and adjust treatment as needed. Visits are generally more frequent when starting or changing treatment and can become less frequent once symptoms are stable.
