Hi there, I'm Magdalen! My name is Magdalen Mekoh. I am a board-certified Psychiatric Mental-Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP-BC) licensed in Kentucky. I am passionate about helping those suffering with psychiatric/mental health and substance abuse in a non-judgemental way giving them a platform to express themselves without fear of being judged because of their struggles. My approach My approach is holistic and getting to the root of the problem. To do that, I will first assess to identify the problem, then diagnose, prescribe medication if needed and offer psychotherapy as needed. Then I collaborate with the patient to establish a plan of care that is beneficial to the patient and that the patient likes. My focus I work with patients suffering from ADHD, anxiety, depression, Substance use disorder, grief, PTSD and trauma, Bipolar, panic attacks, Social anxiety, schizophrenia, and much more. My communication style Patients are given space to speak and I listen to understand what they are saying in their perspective and not forcing my thoughts on them. My journey to mental healthcare I fist registered to study adult gerontology. But it happened that I had a contract to work in an inpatient detox facility. It was there that I decided to change my major to Psychiatric Mental health because I felt like I was called to give hope to these people who have been stigmatized by society and help some regain their self-worth. My goals for you I collaborate with patients to set goals that they have agreed on. I may also cue a patient in goal setting if the patient needs help. I believe that if a patient sets goals they will be willing to accomplish them. So, I also act as a coach. My first session with you Patients should expect to spend about an hour during the first visit because to be treated, the correct history needs to be taken. But the atmosphere is friendly and the session is more like a conversation.
